Therapeutic Services Agency, Inc. Opens a New Office in Duluth for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program

Cheryl Smetana McHugh, Executive Director at Therapeutic Services Agency, Inc is pleased to announce the opening of a mental health office in Duluth providing services to children and adolescents, who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families.

Through grant support from Minnesota Department of Human Services - Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division (DHS-DHHSD), TSA has been providing culturally affirmative, language specific services to deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing children and adolescents across Minnesota for close to 4 years in their schools and local meeting spaces.

Mental Health Therapist, Karen Sheldon, MS, NIC, NCC is thrilled to have an office in Duluth, as a centralized location for clients across Northeast Minnesota.  A permanent space allows specialized treatment interventions such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and TheraPlay techniques to be offered to engage and support children and families locally, in addition to services being provided in locations throughout Northeast Minnesota.

Cheryl shares, “I am so proud of what our exceptional staff member, Karen Sheldon brings to the important work of mental health service delivery given her level of compassion, cultural understanding, professional knowledge and ASL skills to facilitate meaningful therapy and support deaf and hard of hearing children and families.”
