Mitchell Demers, MSW, LICSW

Mitchell (Mitch) Demers is a Mental Health Professional who obtained his Master of Social Work degree from the University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University. He received his Bachelors of Arts Degree majoring in Psychology and Health and a minor in Social Welfare from Luther College in Decorah, IA - specializing in Mental Health, Wellness, and Family Health.  Mitch is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.  

Mitch is currently employed as a full time School Social Worker at a local High School, and works part time for TSA in the Family Based Services program. Mitch has worked within TSA's Child and Adolescent Treatment Program, Day Treatment and Outpatient programs providing individual, family, group, and program management services.  Prior to coming to TSA Mitchell provided services to youth and families that included Directing a summer program for at-risk youth and youth with disabilities for three consecutive summers, was a Court Appointed Special Advocate for the State of Iowa, was the Team Lead for Rice Lake WI Teen Court, and helped with various other human service related programs.

Mitch has a particular interest and specialty working with children, adolescents and their families using a strengths-based and systems approach. Mitch is certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  He has a strong interests in applying Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches in his service delivery. Mitch has a passion working with children and adolescents who struggle with behavior problems, ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, and family and peer relationship difficulties. In addition, Mitch has experience in working with youth who are in foster care or been adopted.  Mitch provides services in Chisago County.
