Intensive Treatment in Foster Care

Description of Services: Intensive Treatment in Foster Care (ITFC) was developed with specific intention to provide effective treatment services to children whom experienced trauma and out of home placement. Psychotherapy, psychoeducation, crisis assistance, after hours support, and coordinated care outline the heartbeat of the services delivered.
ITFC was developed to be a flexible package of services that could be provided to all the members of the child’s family, licensed foster/relative/kin family and members of the permanency plan in any licensed foster/kin/relative home. Inclusion of the child’s parents or pre-adoptive family at any time in the term of the service assists in concurrent and permanency planning, when deemed clinically appropriate.

Additional Information:
In addition to the services provided, the important threads of trauma and permanency are built into the ITFC model. Research of children in out of home care showed disproportionate trauma experiences and combined with more complex issues that arise when out of home placement occurs. Targeting trauma and permanency to support children, families and the foster placement are integral in the program design.
Our Psychotherapists and Clinical Trainees are trained or are in training for the Evidence Based Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach and include additional extensive training in out of home placement, concurrent planning and permanency.
